Seit ich mit diesem Blog angefangen habe – vor immerhin mehr als drei Jahren, als die Große noch ganz klein war und wir den Winter in Turku verbrachten – also seitdem mache ich auch jeden April am Welttag des Buches bei der Aktion “Blogger schenken Lesefreude” mit. Jedes Jahr suchen wir uns dafür ein Buch aus, dass wir hier am 23. April verlosen. Das Geld dafür investieren wir gerne, weil wir die Aktion schön finden und weil wir gerne ab und an anderen Menschen eine Freude machen. Im ersten Jahr ging es bei uns um all-time-favorites und wir haben “Pu der Bär” verlost. Im Jahr darauf waren wir im Gartenfieber und haben “A sting in the tale” von Dave Goulson verlost (sogar mit Widmung vom Autor!). Und letztes Jahr drehte es sich um Kulinarisches und um Flüchtlinge und wir haben “Rezepte für ein besseres Wir” in den Lostopf geworfen.

Jetzt saßen wir neulich zusammen und haben überlegt, was wir dieses Jahr verschenken könnten. Es soll ja irgendetwas sein, dass uns zur Zeit auch beschäftigt und das uns selber gefällt. Gleichzeitig soll es sowohl für deutschsprachige als auch für englische Leser passen. Großes Thema ist bei uns natürlich zur Zeit wieder der Wald und die Natur und was man dort alles erleben kann und wie schön das doch eigentlich alles ist. Und was zum Beispiel Kinder im Waldkindergarten auch alles in der Natur gestalten und basteln können.

Und da fielen uns Bücher ein, die wir selber wirklich immer sehr gerne anschauen. Kunstbücher. Von einem Künstler, den ich erst über Karsten kennengelernt habe und den wir beide sehr mögen. Weil er draußen arbeitet. Und seine Kunst nach einem Regenschauer oder dem Sonnenaufgang auch schon wieder weg ist. Weil viele seiner Kunstwerke sehr humorvoll sind. Mit Augenzwinkern. Und weil er in Schottland lebt. Und sein eines Kunstwerk mit grünen Blättern und roten Beeren damals von Karsten aufgegriffen wurde um seine erste Liebeserklärung an mich zu machen. Weil viele seiner Kunstwerke inspirieren, einfach mal ähnliches auszuprobieren, sei es als Erwachsener oder als Kind.

Deswegen greifen wir dieses Jahr etwas tiefer in die Tasche und verlosen vom 23. bis zum 30. April “Ephemeral Works” von Andy Goldsworthy. Ein total schönes Buch zum Angucken und Entspannen. Was genau ihr machen müsst, um an der Verlosung teilzunehmen, schreib ich dann am 23. April. (Spoiler: ist gar nicht schwer und hat mit der Kommentar-Funktion zu tun!). Ever since I started writing this blog – three years ago when the little one was really little and when we spent the winter in Turku – so, ever since I started writing, I am also part of the project “Blogger schenken Lesefreude” where blog writers are encouraged to raffle off a book at the International Day of the Book. In the first year, we were looking for all-time-favorites and gave away “Winnie the Pooh”. The year after, we spent a lot of time in the garden and raffled off “A sting in the tale” (handsigned by the author!). And last year, it was all about culinary experiences and supporting refugees – so we gave away “Recipes for a better Us”.

Some time ago, Karsten and I sat down, wondering which book we should give away this year. It should be something that we like and that is somehow present in our lives right now. At the same time, we are looking for something suitable for both German and English-speaking followers. One thing that we appreciate very much at the moment is, of course, the forest, the lake and the outdoors in general. Including everything one can discover and experience out there. And what children in a forest nursery discover and make with nature.

Then we remembered a series of books which we very much enjoy because it is incredibly relaxing and inspiring to read them every now and then. Art books. By an artist who I first got to know via Karsten and which both of us like a lot. Because he works in the outdoors. And because his art will be gone after a quick rain shower or after sunrise. Because some of his work makes you smile. And because he is living in Scotland. And his artwork with green leaves and red berries inspired Karstens’ first declaration of love for me. And they continue to inspire to try something similar, either as adult or as child.

That’s why we spend a bit more money this year! From the 23rd to the 30th of April, we will raffle off “Ephemeral Works” by Andy Goldsworthy. A beautiful book to read, look and relax!
