Et voilá, ein kleiner Pieps aus unserem Osterurlaub in Süddeutschland..

Die Nachtzugfahrt nach Freiburg war – wider Erwarten (Familienabteil der österreichischen Bahn, unsere Erwartungen waren hoch!) – katastrophal. Supereng, noch dazu ohne jeglichen Rausfallschutz, woraufhin der Kleine nachts zweimal auf dem Boden landete, und ab Berlin superlaut. Naja, wir haben uns dann bei unserer Ankunft morgens um 6 Uhr auch keine Mühe mehr gegeben…

Die Osterfeiertage waren entspannt und lustig, nur das Wetter hätte besser sein können. Nachdem hier wochenlang über 20°Celsius und Trockenheit herrschten, haben wir mit unserem Besuch ein bisschen norddeutsches Schmuddelwetter mitgebracht, inklusive Schneefall. Aprilwetter halt.

Da musste der Osterhase eben drinnen verstecken. Und ein bisschen draußen, wobei die gefärbten Eier leider abfärbten. Und ein bisschen im Wald. Und in den Weinbergen. Und auf dem Spielplatz. Sowieso hatte der Osterhase wohl dieses Jahr viel zu viele Eier, scheint mir. Hat der überhaupt noch andere Kinder besucht?

Meine Lieblingssituation der Feiertage (von Karsten berichtet): Karsten ist mit den Kindern auf dem Spielplatz und “versteckt” schon mal ein Schokoladenei im Gebüsch. Er: “Oh, guck mal, Große, da hat ja der Osterhase schon ein Ei versteckt!” Die Große (3 Jahre): “Ne, Papa, das ist doch deins! Steck das mal besser in deine Jackentasche, damit du das nicht noch mal verlierst!”. Tja, manche haben halt eine Begabung als Osterhase, andere haben sie wohl nicht….

Ansonsten sind unsere Kinder gerade ziemlich lustig, finden wir. Oder wir sind einfach seit langem mal wieder etwas entspannter. Wie auch immer, schön ist es jedenfalls. Nur ein klitzekleines bisschen getrübt durch einen fiesen Schnupfen mit Husten, den wir jetzt alle haben (die Erkältungszeit darf nun auch mal wieder aufhören).

Also wenn es die nächsten Tage ruhig bleibt: wir haben hier Spaß! Bilder folgen nächste Woche! Und zur Erinnerung: am Sonntag ist Welttag des Buches und man kann hier einen Bildband von Andy Goldsworthy gewinnen (tadaaa!).

Et voila, here comes a quick hello from our Easter holiday in Southern Germany.

The trip down south was horrible – we took the night train from Hamburg, which is now run by the Austrian train company, and according to stories from our friends, we had quite high expectations regarding a “family compartment” (we heard that the Austrian trains are very family friendly). Well, the family compartment was cramped, the beds didn’t even have a secure belt so that the children wont fall out (which resulted in the hobbit falling down on the floor twice that night) and it was incredibly noisy as soon as the train hit Berlin mainstation. Well, as revenge we didn’t try to be very quiet either when we got off the train at six am.

The Easter holidays have been very relaxed and entertaining so far, although the weather could have been a bit better. After having summer-like temperatures with no rain here for weeks, we apparently imported some North German winter weather, including wet snowfall….

That’s why the Easter egg hunt took place inside. And, admittedly, on the playground. And in front of the house. And in the backyard. In the vineyards. And in the forest. There were a lot of Easter egg’s, really. I wonder if we were the only one’s this year who got some, because it’s almost unbelievable that there was anything left for anyone else!

My favorite situation during the holidays: Karsten is trying to distract the kids on the playground and is “hiding” a chocolate egg in the bushes. He: “Oh, little one, look! The Easter bunny already hid an easter egg!” The little one: “No, Dad, that’s obviously yours! You should put it back in your pocket so you don’t loose it again!!!” Well, seems like some have a gift of hiding easter eggs, and some..well..just don’t!

In general, the kids are surprisingly easy going and funny right now. Or we are just much more relaxed than usual. One or the other, but somehow or other it’s very nice! Only drawback these days is the nasty cold that has hit us again (oh dear, I do hope that this season of colds and fever and coughs will be over soon!).

So, in case it’s going to be a bit quiet here again during the next days: we are having fun! Pictures will follow next week. And just to remind you: on Sunday, it’s the International Day of the Book and we will raffle of a really nice book by Andy Goldsworthy (horray, horray, horray!).
